Monarch and For-Get-Me-Not Gift Shop Adults with Creativity Helping Dreams Take Flight Monarch, located at 651 North Highland Ave., Winston-Salem, provides adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to express their creativity. Programs include music, art, photography, technology, dance, and pottery. Monarch is a not-for-profit organization that provides support statewide to thousands of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, and substance abuse disorders.  There are several Monarch programs, homes, and behavioral health offices throughout the Triad area. from the palette of Phillip Philbeck Born in 1968, Philbeck grew up in rural Cleveland County, North Carolina. He now resides just across the line in the foothills of Rutherford County. Meet Shawn Beard

Shawn Beard began getting noticed as an artist early in life by family & friends who would commission him to do portraits for ‘pocket money.’  His mother, being an arts advocate and music buff, inspired Shawn to continue in his own love for music and visual art.  While he doesn’t consider himself a musician, per se, he is a self-taught guitarist and infuses much of his visual art work with musical themes and portraits of famous jazz artists.  His mediums of choice are oils, acrylic, mixed media and collage, and he is very committed to expressing his love for color,
