The State of Origin Beer Festival
Saturday, June 9 (5 – 9p) in downtown Morganton

The State of Origin Beer Festival expands its reach while remaining true to its “drink local” philosophy this June.
The fifth annual event, which takes place Saturday, June 9 in downtown Morganton, will showcase craft breweries from across the nation that specialize in brewing with local ingredients. In past years, the focus was on North Carolina breweries that sourced ingredients locally.
“We started off inviting North Carolina breweries, then all the beers brought to the festival needed to be made with North Carolina ingredients,” says festival organizer Brit Josa, “but over the years the festival evolved to inviting breweries from other states. Now we are focused on breweries that brew with local ingredients on a daily basis.” This year’s festival sports a lineup of 31 breweries representing 14 states, Food Trucks and Live Music.

We’ll have three NEW One off Wednesday special releases coming, keep an eye out for these new beers on tap:
Hoppy Kolsch – This is brewed with grumgeist hops, creating floral and citrusy flavors in an easy drinking summer beer.
Strawberry Lemon Gose – A twist on our Five Thousand Limes key lime gose released earlier in April, this has bold citrus and strawberry flavors.
Cucumber Kolsch – Another easy-drinking summer beer with cucumber flavors that make it a light and refreshing ale on a hot afternoon.
We don’t have any charity events scheduled for June however we will have Stepping Stones Canine Rescue coming in to our festival on June 9th with adoptable puppies!

May/June Craft Happiness IPA Project – Safe
Safe Ipe is brewed to help no-kill animal shelters in their mission to save all healthy and treatable animals. Acidulated malt and flaked oats create unique mouthfeel, with a double dry-hop of Chinook lending spicy, piney notes.
New Releases –
Thousand Smiles Golden Ale – A golden ale that’s light bodied and slightly malt forward, with a superior taste and a clean finish….Because nothing beats a great smile. ABV: 4.4%; IBUs: 16.
Tangled Vine Berry Rose Ale – Pucker up! Acidulated malt provides a platform for cranberries, sour cherries and strawberries to produce a tart fruit ale that’s dry, bubbly and eminently drinkable. ABV: 4.5
Malt Shaker Amber Ale – Malter Shaker uses premium malts and select hops to create a mellow, refreshing thirst quencher with plenty of caramel notes and just a little nuttiness. A smooth, sweet amber ale to shake up your taste buds!

This June HOOTS will debut PILZENDORF Lager Beer, the newest addition to our Zinzendorf series. It’s one we have
planned from the beginning and it will be our first pilsner style beer. The name is a reference to the town of Pilsen where the
style originates and nicely fits the theme of our Zinzendorf series.
We will also release TROPICAL WIT brewed with orange peel and coriander

Lenny Boy Brewing Co. is ramping up production of its organic kombucha with a roughly $300,000 investment. It replaces 12-ounce amber beer bottles with a 14-ounce clear version that can be resealed.
Lenny Boy is currently the second-largest kombucha producer in the Southeast. It expects to brew about 4,000 barrels this year.
