2020 American Cancer Society Relay for Life
The 2020 Relay for Life of Guilford County will be held Friday, May 15th at Western Guilford High School. This event is the signature fundraiser of the American Cancer Society. It is also the biggest fundraising event in the country. Members of the community come together for one night of remembering and celebrating those who have been touched by cancer. Teams are formed, and fundraising takes place to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
Last year, Relay for Life raised over $205,000 in Guilford County. The event will begin with an Opening Ceremony at 6:00 p.m., and the Survivors Lap will follow immediately after. The Survivors Lap is an inspirational time when Survivors are invited to circle the track together and help everyone celebrate the victories they’ve achieved over cancer. Relay for Life also recognizes and celebrates Caregivers at the event.
After dark, we honor people who have been affected by cancer and remember loved ones lost to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony. Luminaria bags surround the track, each one bearing the name of a person touched by cancer, and participants often walk a lap in silence.
Our theme this year is “Game Over, Cancer.” Teams will be decorating their campsite based on different game related themes. There will be entertainment, live music, food, activities for kids, and much more at this event. You don’t want to miss this magical night.
We hope to see you there! To register as a Survivor, form a team, or purchase a Luminaria bag, go to www.relayforlife.org/guilfordnc.
We are excited to partner with Jersey Mike’s for their Day of Giving, held on March 25th, 2020. Plan to eat at a Jersey Mike’s Triad location this day as 100% of all sales will be donated to the American Cancer Society – Relay for Life.
Thank you for joining us in the fight to end cancer!
