“Making people happy one burger at a time.”
Emma Keys Flat-Top Grill, named for a famous cook in Mississippi, offers juicy, delicious burgers and much more for all ages. Located in a restored 1950’s barber shop at the corner of Elam and Walker Avenue in Greensboro.
Original owners Emmett and Lee Morphis opened Emma Keys in December 2010. Gene Bordinger and James Whack purchased the establishment in February of 2016.

In June 2016, Emma Keys was the Grand Prize winner of the 1st Annual Greensboro Farmer’s Curb Market Burger Challenge for their Lone Star Slider. The Lone Star is a 6 oz. delight packed with cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce, mayonnaise and crispy fried onions. Emma Keys prepared 400 sliders for the event.
The Greensburger is a proud, tasty representation of Greensboro. It includes a 6 oz. Angus beef patty, tomatoes, relish, kosher dill spears, sport peppers, chopped red onions, and mustard. Note that the sport peppers are spicy so you can substitute another topping, if you like. The grilled mushrooms are an excellent choice. Top this off with perfectly cooked French fries.
Emma Keys offers 16 burgers. Vegetarians can substitute a veggie patty at no extra cost. Vegans can enjoy Zeke’s Vegan Cake, a house-made Falafel Black Bean Cake with your choice of bread. All white meat turkey burgers are available as well. Emma Keys also offers onion rings and sweet potato waffle fries.
Another interesting burger is the Hog Wild Burger. It has an 8 oz. patty made with a mixture of 30% pork belly and 70% angus beef, Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce, bacon and cheddar cheese on a brioche bun. It’s huge.
Gene and James care about the neighborhood, take care of employees, customers, and vendors.
