See You At The Pint! Quiet Pint Tavern
by Kristen Margo Daukas
If having a vast selection of craft beers paired with a not so ordinary bar menu is your thing, then the Quiet Pint Tavern, located in the West End neighborhood of Winston on First Street, is going to be your new favorite place if it isn’t already. Whether you choose to sit inside the cozy, wood decorated bar and dining room or opt to sit on their huge patio you won’t find a more down-to-earth place to hang out with your friends than the Quiet Pint.
Spring and Fall are the busiest times of the year for the Quiet Pint because of their patio. When last winter’s giant snow storm caused the patio roof to collapse, it was rebuilt and they took the opportunity to install plastic enclosures that can be easily rolled up and down and zippered to create an enclosed patio which will extend the amount of time guests can sit outside to pretty much year-round! Want to take your four-legged best friend with you? Go ahead and grab their leash because the patio is dog friendly – the Quiet Pint even keeps fresh water available so they can quench their thirst while you quench yours!
The patio also serves as a stage for live music on Sundays and Wednesdays. Starting in September, every 3rd Sunday will feature the musical talent of James Vincent Carroll from 1:00pm – 4:00pm – a longtime Quiet Pint crowd favorite. This is a change from their former schedule of music every Sunday so if you’re heading over to hear JVC make sure you go on the 3rd Sunday! They also have live music from 6:00pm – 9:00pm every Wednesday and catering to the request of many guests, they’ve added live Country music on Thursdays so grab your favorite two-step date and check that out as well!
Speaking of thirst quenching – Quiet Pint offers more than 20 different craft beers on tap and an impressive 30 in bottles for you to choose from – many brewed in NC. The beers are curated carefully by General Manager, Mindy, and include everything from IPAs to Wheats, Stouts, Sours, and even a couple Hard Seltzers for those who may not be big beer drinkers. They also have an impressive list of handcrafted cocktails. They update their taps regularly with new beers and you can always find a complete and up-to-date list of what’s on tap by checking out their page on UnTappd where you can also get notifications when new beers go up!
Their menu is far from your average bar food. While you can certainly find the traditional options like wings and nachos, even those are prepared in their own unique way. Favorite starters include the Parmesan Garlic Fries, Poutine with braised, BBQ shredded pork, traditional Mac & Cheese as well as Nashville Hot Chicken Mac & Cheese just to name a few. Moving into the sandwich category, their Steak Tips Hero is one of my favorite dishes and the burger creations cover Korean and Mexican flair and everything American you could imagine. I haven’t had their Black Bean Burger but after chatting with them and hearing how incredible it sounds, it will be the next on my list to try. The menu also has full-blown entrees, flatbread creations, uniquely crafted salads, and a great selection of Street Tacos. If you’re tired of the same brunch places, Quiet Pint’s brunch menu is as unique as their regular menu. There are waffles and french toast to satisfy your sweet tooth, a couple of different varieties of eggs benedict, breakfast tacos, and of course, the Morning Glory burger if you just can’t decide which meal you’re there for!
Quiet Pint does a great job of utilizing social media to update guests on current events and each Friday, they release their new featured menus on Instagram. In addition to the beer list being updated on UnTappd, guests can always find the latest menus and live events on their Facebook page.
